For the past 12 years, I have worked in municipal law enforcement. I moved up quickly starting as an officer, then becoming a corporal, and eventually a sergeant. In that role, I led teams of six to twelve officers, and I was often the one making quick calls in high-pressure situations—sometimes ones with life-or-death consequences.
One of the biggest lessons I learned during that time is this: good leadership isn’t about control. It’s about trust. I always tried to give my team the freedom to make decisions, even if it meant they’d make a few mistakes along the way. Because small mistakes? That is how we learn. Those are the building blocks of confidence and growth. If you can learn from the small stuff, you’re less likely to make mistakes when it really counts.
And honestly, that mindset has carried over into our roofing company. I may be the co-founder and owner on paper, but I don’t see this company as mine. It belongs to our team. It belongs to the people who show up every day and put in the work—and to the community we serve.
My business partner and I always said we wanted to be the change employees wanted to see. A company where people feel respected, supported, and proud to be part of what we’re creating. We’re not just putting roofs on houses—we’re building something meaningful, from the inside out.

No matter how many roofs we’ve worked on, the moment we start treating it as “just another job,” we lose what matters most—our connection with the customer.
For us, it might be one of many projects. But for the homeowner, it’s their roof, their home, and their peace of mind. It’s easy in this industry to fall into a routine, to treat every job like the last or the next. I want us to be different.
I want every homeowner to feel heard, respected, and fully informed about what we’re doing and why. Each job should feel personal—because it is.
When we pack up and leave the jobsite, I don’t want our customers to see us as just another contractor. I want them to think of us as neighbors—people they can trust, people they’d call again, and people they’d gladly recommend to others.
It takes one bad contractor to ruin the name of many. I learned this quickly in policing. My personal commitment is to re-write the bad name in the roofing industry just as I did as an honest, caring and compassionate police officer.
Roofing is more than just shingles. Ventilation is an equally important component of a roof system. Proper roof ventilation is essential for protecting both your roof and your home. It helps regulate temperature and moisture levels in the attic, which directly affects your roof’s lifespan, energy bills, and even your indoor air quality.
Without enough ventilation heat and moisture can build up in your attic and under your roof deck. Over time this can lead to warped or rotting wood, shingle deterioration, mold and mildew growth and higher energy bills.
During warmer months, trapped heat in your attic can raise air temperature inside your home, forcing your AC to work harder. Proper ventilation helps push the hot air out, reducing the load on your HVAC system. In colder climates, poor ventilation can cause uneven roof temperatures, leading to snow melting and refreezing at the eaves—this is what causes ice dams. These can damage shingles, gutters, and cause leaks inside the home.

Fort Collins is top-notch when it comes to dining. Some of my favorites include Ginger and Baker, LuLu Asian Bistro, Blue Agave, the Breakfast Club, Rio Grande, Snooze, D.P. Dough—just to name a few. I especially love spending time in Old Town, whether it’s during the festive Christmas season or the warm, lively summer months. Nothing beats a family night out, topped off with a trip to Walrus Ice Cream. That’s my kind of perfect evening with my family.
Anything that brings us together as a family is where we want to be. My wife and I love taking our two girls on whatever adventure comes our way. In the summer, you’ll most often find us with friends and family on the water at Horsetooth Reservoir. We also enjoy hosting backyard BBQs, exploring hiking trails, and spending time at local museums. For us, it’s all about making memories, whether we’re close to home or off on a new experience.
This is one of my favorite questions, and an easy one for me to answer—because success can take on so many forms depending on who you ask. For me, it comes down to two core areas: family and work.
In my family life, success means showing up—consistently and wholeheartedly. It’s about how well I nurture my marriage and honor the commitment I made to my wife before God. It’s about being present as a father to our two beautiful girls and raising them to become kind, capable, and contributing members of society.
In my professional life, success isn’t measured by dollar signs. While some define it by financial freedom or high earnings—and that’s valid—it’s not the full picture for me. I believe true success in business is about how well you develop and empower others. It’s about building an environment where people feel valued, supported, and energized to do their best work. A successful leader leaves behind a legacy, not just in profits, but in people—equipping the next generation with the tools they need to thrive.

When I’m not working, my time is devoted to what matters most—my family. My wife and two daughters are my top priority in life, and everything else comes second. We spend a lot of time around the game of softball, which has become a central part of our lives. My youngest daughter plays competitive fastpitch softball, and I’m at every game I can be, supporting her from the sidelines or helping her practice. My oldest daughter has earned a college scholarship for softball, and watching her succeed at that level is something I’m incredibly proud of. Being there for them, in every way I can, is what I value most.
Beyond softball, I enjoy barbequing and spending relaxed time at home, especially when it brings our family closer. There’s nothing like a good cookout—grilling up a meal, sharing laughs, and just being together without distractions. I also love spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature’s calm. These moments outside, combined with family time, recharge me and create lasting memories. Whether it’s traveling to tournaments, cheering from the bleachers, sitting around the grill, or exploring the outdoors, those moments are what I live for. My wife and daughters are the heart of everything I do, and every free moment I have, I want to spend it with them.
